April Showers and May Flowers

Summary:  The feral mutants bond for eternity

"Danielle, what the hell are ya doing?" Logan scolded his soon to be wife.

"What??" she snarled back as she dismounted from her horse, Duke.

"Ya know damn well what I am talking about," Logan replied sternly.

"You listen to me, bub," Danielle said poking Logan's chest, "nothing, and I mean nothing, is goin' to keep me from ridin'.  At least, until I am so huge I can't get on Duke's back."

Logan relaxed and a half smile curled up on his lips.  He knew she wouldn't do anything crazy, but in her more delicate condition, he couldn't help but worry all that much more.

Danielle walked side by side with Logan as she led Duke back to the stables.  Logan sat down on one of the benches and watched her untack Duke, brush him down, and get him ready for bedding down in his stall for the night.  Logan cocked his head - no matter what she did, no matter how trivial the deed might have been, he was always deeply interested in watching her.  Tonight was very special for them both - it would be the last night of being solitary - for them both.

Sniffing the air, Logan took note of something.

"I'll be right back.  I think Scooter needs some rescuing from the grill before he burns the mansion down," he said as he walked outside towards the mansion.

"I'll be in shortly.  And Logan..." she shouted.

"Yes, darlin'," he replied in the distance.

"Make sure Scott puts tons of extra seasoning on my barbequed shrimp," she answered.

"Christ, what is it with these crazy food cravings?  I will never understand it." Logan thought to himself.

"Yes, darlin'.  Anything ya want," he replied.  "Anything else ya need?"

"Pickles.  The whole bloody hell jar!" she shouted.

"Girl, you look delicious.  I can certainly understand why that man of yers needs to keep taking you to bed all the time," Yulanda said coyly.

"Yeah, he's so into her - no pun intended," Jubilee giggled.  "What's the record now, Danielle?  Four times a day?"

Danielle shot Jubilee a harsh grin.

"That's our little secret," she growled.

"Like, really, Danielle.  It's not like you two don't rock the walls of your room.  It isn't such a secret," Marie taunted.

"Yeah, but that number doesn't include our private excursions off campus. Besides, what the hell are ya doing venturin' down that end of the mansion anyway?" Danielle snidely asked.  Charles had given Logan and Danielle a new room at the far end of the mansion - far enough away from the dormatories of the students.

"OK, at some point, you are going to have to spill your guts on all this juicy gossip you are hiding," Marie said.

"Well, we shall see.  There's enough gossip running around here just with my awaiting this little one," Danielle said running her hands over her stomach.

She was three months into her pregnancy and still not showing yet, but she smiled knowing soon enough she would be and that before long, she would be holding Logan's offspring in her arms.

Danielle looked at herself in the full length mirror in Marie's room.  Marie stood by her side fixing the adornments in Danielle's hair before she would walk outside into the sun drenched gardens of the courtyard to become Logan's bride.  The dress was powder blue satin with a long flowing train that was decorated with tiny pearls that Storm and Kitty sewed on themselves.  Danielle wanted untraditional - and steered clear of the usual white dress because she didn't want to look like every other bride.  And true to her desires, she had no veil - just beads and flowers woven into her long wavy locks.  The flowers were cut from Storm's favorites in the gardens and both she and Jean fixed them into Danielle's hair.

"It's almost time," Jubilee called out.

"Ya think I look ok?  Is Logan goin' to like it?" Danielle said nervously.

"Girl, let's go put that man of yers down on his butt," Yulanda said adding one last stroke of powder blue eyeshadow to Danielle's eyelids.

Marie handed Danielle a small bouquet of tulips and daffodils to carry.

Logan was anxiously waiting - pacing around wildly.  It was much to the dismay of Scott, who had the unfortunate job as Best Man to keep a nervous Wolverine from going bonkers.  Logan hadn't seen Danielle since 9pm the night before, right after their evening barbeque, when Danielle and the rest of the girls retired to Jean's room for the night.  Scott reluctantly roomed with Logan and had to listen to him pace nearly all night long.

Just when Scott thought Logan was going to totally loose control and go running inside the mansion after Danielle, Scott signalled for the youngest residents to lay out the long piece of white fabric that Danielle would be walking down on.

"Are you ready?" Charles asked Danielle as he rolled up the walkway to the door leading from the mansion to the courtyard.

"Ready as ever," she replied while violently trembling.

Yulanda walked down the concrete pathway first, followed by Charles and Danielle.

They reached the iron arch decorated with flowers and crepe paper wedding bells.  Here, Charles graciously gave Danielle away to Logan and together they stood in front of Kurt Wagner, who performed the service of marrying them.  Scott watched Logan watch Danielle, and the entire time Scott observed Logan trembling nervously.  This brought a soft smile to Scott's face.

"I don't think he's ever been this scared before," Scott whispered to Jean.

"It's only just begun.  You didn't see him fall apart outside after he found out she was pregnant," Jean softly responded.

"You think he's still going to threaten to skewer anyone who even looks funny at Danielle, even now that she's really his?" Scott asked.

"I hope he doesn't get worse.  He's already being overprotective of her because of the baby," Jean giggled.

Kurt declared Logan and Danielle husband and wife - mated for all eternity.  They had exchanged rings and kissed and Logan lifted Danielle up into his arms and swung her around happily howling with excitement.  They danced to the sound of Richard Marx's 'Now and Forever.'

After an afternoon of celebration, Logan itched to get his new bride back 'home' to their room.
