My Intel iMac (Jan. 2006) was lacking something when I first got it. I wanted massive internal storage. Sure, I could have ordered a bigger HD from Apple, but where’s the fun in that? This pictorial guide covers the disassembly of the iMac.

NOTE: This procedure will probably void your warranty with Apple. I would advise that those who think this task will be out of their realm to have Apple do it. Proceed at your own risk!

It has come to my attention that Apple CANNOT void your warranty by replacing a user serviceable part such as the HD due to an FCC regulation. If we couldn’t replace the HD ourselves the manual would say “no user serviceable parts inside”.

Also: This procedure should work for Core duo 2 iMacs as well...
