Microsoft Access can be a challenge to learn and use.  If you are starting along this path, we recommend the following texts:

If you are totally new to Access, consider Adamski and Finnegan: Access 2003 from Thomson Learning.  It contains lots of screenshots and simple instructions--too many in some places but every step is described for creating a basic Access database.  It is a little more expensive than other Access books and you won't find it at most B&N or Borders stores.

Other good texts in no special order are:

  •   Feddema: Expert One-on-One Access Application Development from Wrox
  •   Prague, Irwin, and Reardon: Access 2003 Bible from Wiley
  •   Smith and Sussman: Access 2002 VBA from Wrox
  •   Getz, Litwin, and Baron: Access Cookbook from O'Reilly
  •   Barker: Access 2002 Power Programming from SAMS
  •   Anderson and Pierce: Troubleshooting Access 2002 from Microsoft Press

You'll want them all if you need to learn Access thoroughly.

If  you want to know why we think that these are worthy of your money, send us an email.

If you live in the Denver area and don't want to purchase these books, join the Denver Area Access Users Group and check them out of our library for a month.
