IT IS ALL ABOUT THE MONEY!
The percentages of the full time employees salaries of the Worth Park
District, charged
to the Museum Fund is a very extensive amount.
Monies allocated for the Museum
to pay for the programs, educational events and for operational expenses have
been
drastically reduced. You remember
all the events promoted by our former curator
for the pleasure of the residents of Worth but the atmosphere became so toxic
she
resigned as of May of this year. There
were Civil War Re-enactments, a
talk on the
Christmas Tree Ship by the author of the book, the tour with Richard Crowe
hunting
ghosts, the classic car cruise that travelled throughout our village, tours of
the north
and south side of Chicago and a tour of old Chicago churches.
A popular event is a
tour of our own museum to learn local history for children of our grade
schools which
delights both the kids and the teachers.
The curator is a part time employee, salaried but with no benefits.
Likewise, the
assistant museum curator was part time but her position was abolished.
In the year
2009 a new hire, Superintendent of Recreation is a full time employee with
benefits
and 15% of his salary is charged to the Museum Fund. At a time when most people in
management are taking cuts in their salary we find the Park District giving
raises to
their top people.
Remember, the tax levy for the museum is a levy affecting all the citizens of
Worth
and should be spent for their benefit. Is
this how you want your tax money to work?
