Have you ever signed up for a program at the Worth Park District?
Did the program
run or was it cancelled? Parents
and children are disappointed by cancelled
programs so they go to Oak Lawn and Chicago Ridge to take them.
More than 50%
of our programs are being cancelled. You
may ask yourself why was the program
cancelled only to find out that it was because of the low enrollment.
The cost to take
the program is too high and non-resident rates are even higher.
In a family where
there are more than one child the cost factor is
prohibitive. Very often
our Park
District depends on non-residents
to achieve a minimum number to make the
program viable and economically successful.
In this economy today it is becoming
harder and harder to achieve. Consequentially,
every effort should be made to keep
the cost down.
Well established programs are being ruined because staff and instructors are
not
allowed to spend the money that is being allocated to them in the budget.
Money is
being shifted to cover other expenses especially high management salaries and
benefits.
The taxpayers are the ones suffering because of this practice.
Do you want your taxpayer dollars to go for high management salaries and
benefits or to
affordable programs?
