Kevin Werner has been very critical concerning the Worth Park District Museum Curator

and I would like to reply.  I have admired Kevin ever since he applied for the vacant position

of Park Commissioner.  Although he didn't get appointed, he went on to serve as

Village Trustee for many years.  If he had run for mayor at the last election, he would

have had my vote.  However, I believe his brother Steve, misled him about the job of

the Museum Curator.  He seems  to think the only thing the curator did was to take people

through the museum and was highly over paid.

Here are the many other duties as described in her job description:

     1.  To keep the museum artifacts in good condition.

     2.  Provide educational opportunities that inspire residents to rediscover the
           village's historic value.

     3.  Periodically change exhibits and offer exhibits to other institutions, such as the
           library.

     4.  Through grant writing, programming and special events encourage support
for the museum so that it will be an asset to the village.

5   Encourage support of volunteers to help where needed.

     6.   Keep the Historical Society updated and through recorded minutes of their
            meetings.

     7.   Keep the Park District Board informed. (Through reports to the board since
the curator is not allowed to attend board meetings.)

     8.  Through special classes, workshops, local historical societies and events,
           continue my education in history.

     9.   Plan and run all programs deemed by the Director such as spook house, other
Halloween activities, car cruises, car shows and Civil War Re-enactments.

If you attended one of the Civil War weekends at Gale Moore Park, Kevin, you might

agree that it is not the Curator that was over paid.  Do you have any idea of the

massive amount of planning and follow through such an event demands?

Incidentally, several thousand children and adults attended these Civil War weekends.

As former Treasurer, I would say after looking at the budget that it is the

Administrative staff that is over paid.
