The next WRGC Membership
Meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 7, 2008 at
7:30 PM. A member's dinner will be served prior to the meeting starting at 6:30
PM. Guests are welcomed!

- WRGC's members unanimously approved the FY2009 Budget at the September
membership meeting. (Click

- The members also approved the following:
- FY2009 Membership Dues has been set at $200 for 2009. This is payable
by all members no later than October 31, 2008.
- Members will be allowed to work off a portion of their 2010 dues
thanks to the adoption of a Work Program. This program allows members to
get credit for participating in work programs and WRGC events.

- WRGC's met with prospective cranberry growers on Monday, September 8th.
Five growers attended the informational session and toured the bog complex.
Deadline for proposals is October 20, 2008. (Click

- The Board of Trustees is holding a 50/50 Horseshoe Tournament and Pig
Roast / Turkey Fry on Saturday, October 4th. The 50/50 horseshoe tourney
begins at noon with an entry fee of $10 per person - more throwers = a
larger 1st Prize! The pig roast and turkey fry will begin at 6:00 PM.
Tickets are $15 (Adults) and $5 (Children under 12). Contact Mike at

- WRGC will be holding its first 20/20 Dinner on Saturday, October 18th at
7:00 PM. The dinner will feature an Italian Buffet followed by drawings for
the top three cash prizes. You may still enter the 20/20 raffle buy
purchasing a ticket for $20. The dinner is free to Raffle ticket holders and
Guests may purchase dinner tickets for $10. (Contact Russ Duarte at

- WRGC held its 2nd IBO World Qualifier and 3D Archery
Extravaganza on June 21st - June 22nd at its property in Middleborough, MA.
Archers were treated to the challenge of 120 3D targets spread throughout
WRGC's 350 acre facility. It's too early to know how the event did
financially but the Committee did a great job in pulling all the pieces
together and running this ambitious event. Nice Job to all!

- The Associates held the Fourth Annual Tihonet Pond Fishing Derby which was
enjoyed by nearly 400 anglers from all over the region. The event was made
possible by the generosity of the A. D. Makepeace Company, its Board of
Directors, Management Team and its Employees. Thank you for your Support!
The event raised nearly $3,000 for the General Fund which supports WRGC
programs like the Associates Program.

- The WRGC Family Night was a huge success raising ~$1,900 for the General
Fund. The evening featured a scrumptious Italian Buffet with every
imaginable pasta dish followed by a wildlife program entitled 'Reptiles and
Raptors' by Marla Isaac. The dinner and show were very well received, Great
Job! (and thanks for bringing the Families back into WRGC!!!)

- The WRGC Hunting & Game Committee held its Annual Game Dinner on
Saturday, April 5th. The event, sold out weeks in advance, was enjoyed by
183 guests. The dinner consisted of 19 different dishes featuring elk,
venison, rabbit, black bear, caribou, wild boar and pheasant. Mark St.
Germaine and his committee brought in $5,200 profit which will be
turned in to the general fund to help support stocking of pheasant for the
membership.

- The WRGC Range Committee held its Annual Ham Shoot on Sunday, March 9th in
blustery conditions. Attendance was sparse and several piggy's went back to
market at the end of the day. The Range Committee welcomes your suggestions
as to how these legacy shoots can be made more attractive.

|
- WRGC's Upland Game Committee held its third "Evening with..."
Prime Rib Dinner on March 8th. Artist / Author Randy Julius entertained
seventy-three guests with a presentation on Massachusetts Wildlands. The
event raised approximately $1,700 for the WRGC General Fund. Another
Great Event by the Upland Game Committee!

- Nine of WRGC's Past Presidents gathered for a celebration of WRGC's
history and future. The attendees were treated to a great dinner followed by
several WRGC-centric presentations.

- The Archery Committee had a great day on Sunday, January 13th as over 100
shooters participated in WRGC's first Tri-County 3D Shoot of the 2008
Season. Attendees raved about the 3D course and the breakfast that was
served at the event. Great Job by the Archery Committee!

- Santa Claus made a special appearance at WRGC's Children's Christmas
Party on Saturday, December 15th. In all, 32 children attended and were
treated to food, confections and one-on-one Santa Time. Nice Job by the
members in putting this event together!

|
|
- The Upland Game Committee released the schedule of Pheasant
Stocking Dates. This is a program funded by subscribing members which stocks pheasant
for WRGC's licensed preserve.

- The
Nominating Committee presided over the WRGC election of Officers and Board
Members. The Election of Officers was held during the Annual Meeting on
December 11, 2007.

- The Archery Committee is looking forward to being able to shoot on the
right-hand side of the indoor range building. To that end they have decided
to construct cloth-stuffed backstops. Members are asked to donate rags (dry
clothing, blankets, old curtains, towels, etc.) by bundling them up and
placing them in the collection bin supplied by the Committee.

- WRGC Members voted unanimously on Tuesday, November 6th to purchase 13.1
acres of land on the north side of Pine Street in Middleboro. The land was
purchased using the Land Acquisition Fund which is funded solely by the
generosity of our members and friends. There are more important parcels of
land around us. Please consider donating to the Land
Acquisition Fund today!

- Randy Parker reported that the WRGC booth at the A.D. Makepeace, Co.
October Harvest Fest resulted in a profit of nearly $1,000. As agreed, the money
will be put into the WRGC Scholarship Fund.

|
- Thanksgiving Turkey Shoot was held at the WRGC Range on Sunday,
November 11th. Almost every shooting line was filled and at the end of the
day lucky / skillful shooters went home with a bounty of frozen turkey.
|
|
|
- The Fall Clam Boil was held on Saturday, November 3rd at 6:30
PM. Despite being one of the worst days of the year Mark St. Germaine
reported that the event raised $860 for the
General Fund.

|
|
|
|
- The Annual Pig Roast
was held on Saturday, September
8th. The feast was enjoyed by 100 friends and members resulting in a return
of $1210 into the WRGC General Fund. Great Job by the Committee!
