American Apartheid is an unvarnished, dramatic perspective
on the state of America's race relations from an average, yet, fiercely
patriotic American. Examined from the historical standpoint of Native
Americans and black Americans, the book is a lively contributor to a sorely-needed
national dialogue on race. Its purpose is to jump-start the
stalled vehicles that drove Americans to the battleground where the war
for racial equality was fought in this country.
For the past 15 years or
so, the Civil Rights Movement, which was very aggressive in the 1960's
and the 1970's, has slowed to a crawl. The fight for racial equality is
far from over. Hopefully, this book will inspire a rebirth of the Civil
Rights Movement and salute our President for the sensitivity he continues
to show for one of the great unfinished tasks --- the racial healing of
America --- on our national agenda. |
| No Land, No Mule, No Freedom rings a loud message for all people of color, but especially African Americans to fully understand the deep-seated nature of America's attitude toward all black people and, more importantly, how these attitudes are beginning to manifest themselves in the institutional and social systems in this country. Wright's research and penetrating personal commentary provide an excellent basis for dialogue among whites, blacks and Jews, and Native Americans to explore the true nature of what it is that continues to keep these groups apart. |
