Official Healey Roadrunner Events for 2009

Caravan to Las Cruces for British Car Days, April 23-26 2009:  We had three Healey's, one Midget, and one Mini make their way to Las Cruces.  Friday afternoon was race day, and most of the cars made it onto the track.  Car show day on Saturday produced a Healey blowout:  all three Healeys made the podium in their classes!  Look for pictures in the Roadrunner web album.  Mechanical problems?  Well Ric Tafoya lost a few spokes on race day, but he had plenty left over.   Sponsored by the British Motor Car Club of Southern NM.  You missed a great one, see you next year.

Bibo III Charity Rallye, Saturday May 23, 2009:  Enjoy this annual event, guaranteed to show you parts of Albuquerque's West Mesa you didn't know were there.  It all ends with gifts to charity and delicious hamburgers at  the Bibo Bar and Grill.  Details and starting point TBA, but keep your calendar open.

Run to the Crest and Run to the Wrobel's potluck, Saturday September 5, 2009: This is a joint event by the Healey Roadrunners and the Albuquerque Chapter of the VMCCA.  The Run to the Crest starts at the Smith’s Parking lot at Tramway and Central at 9:00 AM and caravan to the Crest. Mountain folks feel free to join our caravan on the way to the summit. There is a charge for parking please bring $1.00 bills as there is no way to make change, parking is $4.   Take in some spectacular views (You might want to take your camera.) have some cold drinks to freshen up and let you and your car cool off. 

Later on, drive down  and continue to the Wrobel’s log mansion near the crest of Sedillo Hill (directions to be issued later). Anytime after 11:30 would be good. Hot dogs, hamburgers and cold drinks will be provided but if you can, please bring a dish that you think would be complimentary. Items such as potato salad, chips, a dessert, etc. will allow us all to enjoy a hearty lunch.

If you or your car is not up to the Crest Run, just show up at the Wrobel's anyway.

 There will be door prizes and a raffle to benefit Cuindando los Ninos. The Agatha A. Healey recognition award will be given to a person who has promoted the Austin Healey and the Onslow A Jaguar award will be presented to a person who has promoted the VMCCA. Lastly, please bring your classic car and be sure that is just shiny bright as this will definitely be a photo op and tire kicking event. It might also be helpful if you bring a comfortable lawn chair. In the July newsletter we will give directions to the Wrobel’s for those of you who won’t be participating in the drive to the Crest or those of you who might get lost. We will also give you a phone number and/or an e-mail address for your RSVP so that Doug and Judy can plan accordingly.

East Mountain Charity Rallye, Sometime in September, 2009:  This will take you through some Fall colors and spaghetti roads bound to confuse and please.  Incredibly valuable prizes and lots of revenue for charity.  Details and starting point TBA

Potluck Christmas Party, Monday December 7, 2009 6 PM at the Wrobel's:  Judy and Doug Wrobel are hosting this annual event at their beautiful, east mountain home.  Stay tuned for details about  what to bring.
