McCuistion made some progress in 2004 after struggling at Williamsport in 2003. He showed significantly more power than in any previous season, and continued to draw walks at a good rate. He started the season very strongly, making the mid-season All-Star team, but he tailed off badly in the second half before rebounding a bit late in the season. His biggest problem at bat seems to be the standard one for hitting prospects: off-speed pitches. Based on the little I've seen or heard about him, he seems decent defensively. He runs OK. He should be the regular C at Lynchburg in 2005. At 23, he won't be an ideal age for the level, but as a LH-hitting C with a decent bat, he should get plenty of chances to prove himself.
