Nunnally has had an interesting career. He started with the Indians and appeared to establish himself as a prospect in 1994, but the Tribe left him off its roster and the Royals took him in the Rule 5 draft. He had a remarkably successful season for a player making the jump from high A to the majors. After spending most of the following year in AAA, he was traded to the Reds and had another very good partial season with them. Since then, however, he hasn't hit as well. He's always hit for a low average, but has generally had good power and high, sometimes extremely high, walk totals. It's likely that the low BA causes some teams to underrate him. Nunnally spent most of the 2000 season in Japan, then didn't hit so well in AAA the next two years. He had a strong 2003 season, but battled injuries in 2004. Nunnally is a short, rather squat guy who used to run well, although at 33 that may no longer be the case. He was expected to fill a corner OF/DH role at Indianapolis, but he was suspended for the season's first 15 games due to steroid usage. He'll join the Indians when he's eligible to play.
