The Pirates are enamored of small, speedy players, and Lomack is one. He signed
right after the 2004 draft. He had a good year for Williamsport, playing only
sparingly at first but eventually winning most of the 2B job. He also played a
little in the OF. He hit for average and drew walks, but, as is common with Pirate
draftees under Dave Littlefield, he has no power at all. He appears to be a very
efficient and prolific base stealer. He opened 2005 as the regular 2B at Hickory.
