Peralta hit for average with decent power in his second DSL season, although his
plate discipline was subpar. He played 3B in the Dominican in 2003, but moved to
2B in the GCL. Excluding Dan Schwartzbauer, who was much too old for the level,
Peralta was Bradenton's best hitter. He didn't fan much and his walk rate improved
to near-marginal, although he didn't show much power. Oddly, though, he played
just over half the time as the team gave a lot of playing time to Schwartzbauer.
Peralta had 9 errors in 31 games at 2B, which is a little high for that level, so
defense may be a concern. He should be at Williamsport in 2004, although he was a
little older than ideal for the GCL and needs to move along to establish himself
as a prospect.
