A 3rd-round pick, Prasch continued the Bucs' trend in the 2004 draft of looking
for offense-oriented players. BA reports that his bat is regarded as his only
plus tool. He's a line drive hitter, although the Pirates believe he'll develop
power. He's had success against quality LHPs. A SS in HS, he moved to 3B in the
GCL. He didn't hit well, although his BB and K numbers don't look like he was
completely overmatched. The Bucs kept him in the #3 spot in the batting order,
so they evidently believe he'll start to hit eventually. He reportedly bulked up
in the off-season and impressed the Pirates during minor league camp, but he was
not assigned to Hickory to start the year, despite some reports that he would be.
He'll probably open at Williamsport.
