Description of Fund:
The Willamette Valley Society of Echocardiography (WVSE) is a non-profit professional organization that is committed to furthering the field of echocardiography. One way in which we can accomplish this is by supporting those individuals who represent the future of our profession. In light of this, funds have been raised by the WVSE to provide assistance to selected individuals who are working toward a career in echocardiography.
Eligibility for Funds:
1) Must be a US citizen and a resident in Oregon or Southwest Washington. 2) Must be a full-time student in an accredited ultrasound school. 3) Must have and maintain a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.75, on a 4.0 scale, each year scholarship funds are sought.
Deadline for Next Application:
July 31st and December 31st
Selection Criteria: WVSE will recognize up to two $250 Student Scholarships on a yearly basis
1) Academic accomplishments, professional goals, and dedication to profession. 2) Financial Need Actual or potential difficulty in completing education in the absence of an award. 3) Work Experience Work experience in the medical field, not necessarily in the field of cardiology. 4) Letters of recommendation.
Scholarship Rules and Regulations:
1) Applicant must be enrolled in an accredited ultrasound school with training specifically in echocardiography/cardiac sonography. 2) Applicant must be from, or demonstrate intent to become employed in the Oregon or Southwest Washington areas. 3) Application must be typed. 4) Applications that are incomplete, or are received by the WVSE after the determined deadline, will NOT be considered. 5) All applications and supporting documents become the property of the WVSE and will not be returned to applicants. 6) The WVSE Scholarship Committee, whose decision will be final, will determine scholarship recipients. Only the recipients will be notified. 7) The award may only be used to defray tuition costs, and will be sent directly to the school of the recipient’s choice. 8) Applicants MUST furnish proof of being a student in good standing, or enrolled for entrance into the fall program of an accredited school. Include with this application a copy of the most recent college transcripts, or letter of acceptance into an accredited school. 9) Re-applications accepted from former scholarship recipients and applicants. 10) NOTE: If you are pursuing studies OTHER than cardiac sonography, please DO NOT submit an application. |
