The Trails Committee held its inaugural hike of the Locke's Loop Trail on November 20, 2005. This trail, an extension of the Trustees of the Reservations' Petticoat Hill Trail located in the center of town, was completed this Summer and Fall with the much-appreciated assistance of the Student Conservation Association. Fifty or more hearty souls of all ages, from Williamsburg and numerous other towns in the area, gathered at the trailhead on Petticoat Hill Road in the early afternoon of what was a pleasant November day (mid 40s, sunny, and fair) and were welcomed by WWT Committee member John Hoogstraten, who described the trail and the events leading up to its christening. The approximately 1 to 1½-hour long hike commenced shortly thereafter, went off without a hitch, and by all accounts was enjoyed by all.
