Spring Trail Maintenance was held this year at the town owned Hall Conservation Area on O'Neil Rd. Chance of showers didn't deter l5 adults and 2 children who spruced up new and older trails, making the area more inviting to the public.
A former small meadow kept open by the previous owner George Hall, a wildflower enthusiast, was tackled at the end by all hands and two chainsaws. Taller pines had dead side branches trimmed off, while barberry, brambles, vines and small trees were taken out. Huge brush piles show the amount of work a group can do in a short time.
The light rain which had developed didn't even deter people at the end. Many stood around enjoying the refreshments and a nice sense of accomplishment, more eager to talk and relax together than leave.
A few weeks later, the old apple trees in the former meadow bloomed, as if in gratitude.
