Mission

The mission of the West Windsor Township Mayor's Youth Advisory Task Force is to provide a forum and other services for West Windsor youth and community, seeking to establish a stronger youth presence and improve the quality of life for all township residents.

Profile

The Task Force consists of one freshman, one sophomore, and one junior from each of the two high schools in the West Windsor-Plainsboro school district. Members Stephanie Brown, Ajay Singh, and Joanne Yuan are from High School North; members Bethany Hoffman, Kelly Nigh, and Sherry Zhang are from High School South.

Information

Beginning in February 2004, Mayor Shing-Fu Hsueh held monthly meetings with his Youth Advisory Task Force. Mayor Hsueh gave the students an overview of current township issues such as assessed property revaluation, the Township’s municipal budget and surplus, open space preservation, infrastructure of bicycle and pedestrian paths, and the proposed transit village at the Princeton Junction train station. The youths provided the Mayor with their ideas and strongly supported the town’s plan for a transit village. They also voiced their concerns to the Mayor about problems such as the underage drinking ordinance and the lack of a youth community center in the town. Currently, the Task Force is working on forums and events for youths as surveying West Windsor youth on their views on the transit village.
