... about me
I accepted the mayor's invitation to the Task Force because I feel that the youth in West Windsor needs to have a presence in the town. As citizens of West Windsor, teenagers should be involved and proactive in the local government and in helping the town progress as a community. The community, as a whole too, needs to be more in touch with the needs of the youth. While serving I hope to be a benefactor in creating a youth center, a place which West Windsor teenagers can call their own to have fun, learn about others, and create positive feedback to help the town.
The young people of West Windsor do not have a place or area that they can call their own. Teenagers end up hanging out at movies and malls. The two schools, North and South, further divide the young people of the same town. A youth center would bring North and South students together and give them the opportunity to socialize and function as responsible citizens. I also feel that teenagers have a lot to offer in developing this town - not just generating ideas, but also volunteering some of their time in community work. I hope the task force can really come together to create forums and act as a liaison between the youth and the Mayor.
My future is not written in stone as yet; but I am working towards a direction. The courses in my junior and senior years will help in finalizing my goals. I have always wanted to do something that is medically related. Coming to the end of tenth grade, brings me closer to college; but I have not decided on any one particular school. I do hope to attend college somewhere in the northeast, either in the New York or Boston areas.
My father's profession is Consumer Marketing. He has worked both in New York and Philadelphia. My mother has degrees in Industrial Design and Computer Programming, and has worked in both areas. For the past few years she has opted to stay home and take care of my eleven year old brother and me.
