A traditional porcelain Japanese teaset, decorated with a delicate bird design -- a pheasant pair posing in a flower garden -- in green, pink, lavender, and burnt orange against a creamy off white background. Gold outlines and accents in the design add to the exceptional beauty of this 6-piece set.
The cups and teapot are marked with a Japanese symbol and have blue "Made in Japan" stickers. Teapot is 4 1/2" tall, 3" across the top, and comfortably holds 24 ounces. The handle is made of a vinyl material with gold accents in the middle and is securely fastened to the pot. The finial in the lid is outlined in gold and is decorated with the same gilt-edged greenery in the central design.The five cups are 2 1/2" high, 2" across the top, and hold 3-4 ounces. None of the six pieces (seven including the lid) have any chips, scratches, or nicks. The cups show overall clean crazing. The lid has a hard to find shallow hairline crack from the middle (not including the finial) to the edge.
