WELCOME!

Her Majesty's Parlour Adventurers present The Matter of Britain - which we'll call HMPA for short - is being run at Intercon E, Saturday afternoon, March 5, 2005 from 2:00PM until 6:00PM.

Room Change: We are no longer in Salon A & B. We are now in Chelmsford, Carlisle and Concord, the three small conference rooms near the hotel lobby.

The game is the product of the fevered minds of Beth Kelly and Alex Newman, who have brought you such diverse madness as the very silly Battle Beyond Infinity!!!! and the psychological thriller, Long, Cold Night. This page is currently a place-holder. We'll be putting more information up here as we develop it, but right now, most of the links don't actually go anywhere. If you've got questions about the game, feel free to drop Alex or Beth a line. Alex can be reached at Yevsha@thisisjustinheretocatchspamcomcast.net Beth can be reached at Beth@thisisjustinheretocatchspampir.net

ABOUT THE GAME

HMPA is set in the Golden Age of Live Action gaming. You, as players, take the part of Victorian ladies and gentlemen who will be guests at an "acting evening" - what we think of as a LARP - put on by one of London's most pretigious gaming societies.

For the sake of clarity, we are using the following terms:

  • Player: who you really are; the person standing around in a costume in a hotel in Chelmsford. This is the person you are in your real life. For example, the Player would be Alex Newman.
  • Guest: the role you are portraying in Victorian London. This could be a member or guest of the gaming society, one of the organizers of the game, or a household servant. This is the role you will be portraying during the four hours while we are playing HMPA. For example, the Guest would be Sir John Woodford, Esq..
  • Character: the role the Guest has been cast as; the character that your Victorian persona will be for the four hours of game time while The Matter of Britain is played. For example, the Character would be Sir Bruce the Tall, Knight of the Round Table.

Simple, right?

ABOUT THE GAME WITHIN THE GAME

King Arthur has declared a day of celebration and pageantry at Camelot, the culmination of which will be a tournament. The winner of the tournament will be declared Captain of the Guard of Camelot for a year and a day. This position has significant political and financial power, as well as a great deal of responsibility.

Noble knights and their supporters from all over the Seven Kingdoms have come to watch and cheer on their combatant. Of course, there are those who will use this time to plot, scheme, betray, and make alliances for the comingyear as well...

The one hundred and twenty-third game present by Her Majesty's Parlour Adventurers, The Matter of Britain promises to be our most exciting yet! Join us on Saturday, March 6, 1891 at two o'clock in the afternoon. Escape the beastly slush and cold of modern London to bask in the glory of Camelot Court!
