Young-Jin joined master's program at Cornell University in 1997, and achieved his Ph.D. degree in 2003. Preferential flow is Young-Jin's primary interest. His research has been extended to monitoring phosphorus transport, and environmental sampling for cryptosporidium parvum. Young-Jin is currently working with Dr.Scott Brooks at Oak Ridge National Laboratory as a postdoc for the uranium immobilization project under preferential flow conditions. He is a member of the Soil Science Society of America, the American Geophysical Union, the American Society of Agricultural Engineers, and the Korean Society of Agricultural Engineers
