Note the mysterious one-tube (6AB7), sub-chassis unit mounted above the RF cage.
It may be a custom-built broadband RF preamp for a specific US Navy installation of the RBY-1.

RBY-1 receiver dials with front panel removed

The RBY-1 is a military version (CHL-46195) of the classic Hallicrafters SX-28 receiver, part of the RBY-1 panoramic system.
This classic receiver was part of an estate--apparently untouched for years or decades. A search of the Internet has not succeeded
in finding any other examples of this receiver in private collections or museums so it must be extraordinarily rare.

The rear metal ID plate is stamped "H-181855." The front metal label identifies it as Model CHL-46195 of the RBY-1 receiving system,
manufactured by Hallicrafters for the US Navy with the contractor--and manufacturer of the panadaptor unit--listed as
The Panoramic Radio Corporation, New York, New York.
