Thanks to the testing help of Dominicus, we are now able to make NT 3.51 specific downloads available! Many of these are apps that normally won't install in NT 3.51 otherwise. Any EXE downloads will automatically create the folder for install, just tell it what drive you want it on. (Example, if you select to install on D:\, FrontPage Express wil install to the folder, "D:\Microsoft FrontPage Express".) Thanks again to Dominicus for helping to make this possible! If you know of any places with Windows NT 3.51 info, feel free to let me know with the contact link of the left. For any downloads that need to be placed in your System32 directory, just replace "Windows" with your installation's dir name. (such as WinNT\System32, WinNT351\System32, etc) ...assorted downloads. Bear Windows - Along with some other useful things, the creator of this website is working on a universal VESA video driver for Windows NT 3.51, allowing higher color and resolution with video cards that don't have normal NT 3.51 drivers available. (near the bottom) Netscape Communicator Download Archive - From what I've seen and been told, just about any version of Netscape, 4.8 or older, should work fine in NT 3.51.Keep in mind that the included 32-bit version WinAMP does not work properly, and can mess things up, so be sure NOT to install it during the Netscape install. Just copy the DLLs to your Windows\System32 directory prior to install. - amovie.zip - 739KB Adobe Acrobat Reader 4.0 - AcroRead4.exe - 2.89MB FoxMail 4.1 - Great email client that runs without a problem in NT 3.51. - FoxMail.exe - 1.84MB Internet Explorer/Outlook Express 5.0 - This download contains the 16-bit version of Interenet Explorer and Outlook Express 5 for NT 3.51, with the dialer (that was only designed for Windows 3.1) removed to avoid installation issues. If you run the full install you'll see one quick error about it being unable to install the dialer, but everything else (including Outlook Express) will work fine. - Download - 8.16MB IE5 High Encryption Pack - This will upgrade IE5 to 128-bit encryption. - Download - 157KB Internet Explorer/Outlook Express 4.0 - This download contains the 16-bit Internet Explorer and Outlook Express 4 for NT 3.51. - Download - 10.1MB IE4 High Excryption Pack - This will upgrade IE4 to 128-bit encryption. - Download - 150KB Internet Explorer 3.03 SP1 - This comes with the IE 3.03 SP1 browser and mail for NT 3.51. - Download - 3.93MB NT 3.51 NewShell Technology Preview Version 2 - This is the download for the rare NewShell version 2 for NT 3.51, giving it an NT 4 sort of look. (since it's a preview of the NT 4 interface) It has some bug fixes over Version 1 (which is considerably buggy), but it's certainly not bug-free. Still interesting to play around with. Keep in mind that you should install any NT 3.51 service packs before installing this. - newshell2.zip - 2.11MB Microsoft FrontPage Express - Note: The executable file will be in "\Microsoft FrontPage Express\bin". - FPExpress.exe - 1.7MB Opera Web Browser 5.12 (32-bit) - I didn't even realize this myself until a viewer of this site emailed me about it, but Opera 5.12 actually works fairly well in Windows NT 3.51 (unlike later versions). It doesn't have as many features as later versions do, but it's probably the best browser available for NT 3.51, since it's faster and has less trouble displaying sites than either Netscape 4.8 (32-bit) or Internet Explorer 5 (16-bit). I have run into a couple issues with it, such as frequent Java crashes (although I've heard from others who haven't had any trouble with Java), and an issue with saving files (opening automatically or setting it to always save to a specific folder works fine, but browsing for a folder always results in this error), but for the most part it seems to work fairly well. - Non-Java - Download - With Java - Download Opera Web Browser 5.02 (32-bit) - I haven't tested it myself, but I've been told that this version works in NT 3.51 as well. - Non-Java - Download - With Java - Download Windows NT 3.51 NetShow Player - Not sure if this is very useful anymore, but it's available here if you want to try it. - nsplay351.exe - 2.06MB Windows NT 3.51 Service Pack 5 - Download - 12.4MB Windows NT 3.51 Service Pack 4 - Download - 10MB Windows NT 3.51 Service Pack 3 - Download - 7.7MB Windows NT 3.51 Service Pack 2 - Download - 7.6MB Windows NT4 Autologon - Program to have the system automatically logon at system startup. Works fine in NT 3.51. - al_nt4.zip - 150KB WinPlay3 MP3 player - 32bit version of this player works great in Windows NT 3.51. - wp32v23b5.exe - 982KB WinZip 7.0 - Latest version of the ZIP compression utility that runs fine under NT 3.51. (may need COMCTL32.DLL above for certain features) - winzip70.exe - 921KB WinZip 6.3 - Older version of WinZip that also runs fine in NT 3.51.
