Plot |
| Patrick Bateman is the typical
American business man. Except for the fact that he is utterly
insane. His need for drugs, hookers, and killing people are starting
to take over his life. |

Review |
| American Psycho is a movie adaptation of a book. Now I never read
the book so I didn't quite know what to expect when I was watching the
movie, and I don't really know if the movie was successful in capturing
the true spirit of the book. Upon finishing the movie I was blown
away. Black humor runs thick through out the film, I found myself
laughing at points of the movie that other people would cringe at.
It all revolves around the quirky Patrick Bateman, who is portrayed in the
film as the typical late 80's high class business man. But this
business man has a bad side. He seems to be slightly obsessive
compulsive, especially when it comes to his appearance. He obsess
over his fitness, posture and personal grooming. My thoughts are
that this is all he has because he has absolutely nothing on the inside.
Patrick even says himself that he doesn't have "a single identifiable
human emotion". When it comes to the acting in this movie, Christian
Bale's performance is phenomenal. From what I have heard, Leonardo DeCaprio, was lined up for the part of Patrick Bateman, but he backed down
because of the controversy that was stirring up. I think that Leo is
a good actor, but I can't really see him, or anybody for that matter
pulling of the performance that Bale delivers. It is truly one of a
kind. Since most of the movie revolves around Bateman and his self
destructive tendencies, there is rarely a scene with out him in it.
So all of the other actors and actresses are in Bale's shadow. Not
that they were not good, it is just hard to compare when Bale is in the
scene. We get Reese Witherspoon, who plays her typical annoying
character. But I am not a fan of hers so it doesn't help any. The
director, Mary Harron, does a great job in the directors chair. She
is very good at keeping the gore factor to the imagination. But on
the other hand she knows just the right amount of violence to have
onscreen. Over all this is a movie that is sure to please.
Also I would suggest checking out the directors cut of this one, it is a
lot better in showing Harron's true vision of the movie. |

Gore |
| This is not a particularly gory
movie but we do get a cut off head in the fridge, a bloody axe attack, and
a chainsaw scene. All of which are more bloody than gory, most of
the gore is implied. But
who cares this movie rocks. |
