Based on a story by H.P. Lovecraft, Dagon is a movie about a man and his wife who get stranded on an island with fish people.  Enough said.

Review

From the mind behind the Re-Animator, comes Dagon.  But don't get too excited, this one is way out there.  The plot isn't that great, and the acting is flawed.

The film starts out good, but goes down hill.  It is going to make you think; What the hell am I watching.  I still don't really understand it.  It jumps around way to much and that kind of thing will drive you crazy.  There are plot twists, but they will only surprise you if you know what the hell is going on, and that is the problem, you don't know what the hell is going on!

Another thing I didn't really like about this is that the director didn't use lighting effects to his advantage.  Too many times I was squinting to see what was on the screen. Other than that Stuart Gordon was rather low key in the directors chair for Dagon.

The only reason I gave this a 2 star score is that it was gory, and I like that.  So the only real reason to see this one again or at all is if you like lots of gore.

Gore

Yeah, it was gory, and that was the only thing that I really liked about it.  We get bloody hanging skin, ripped off arms, and a mans face skinned while he is alive!
