Plot

Well, the dead are walking the earth again, in the remake of George A. Romero's Dawn of the Dead.  The world is swarming with zombies, and only a hand full of people remain.  The barricade themselves in a shopping mall.

Review

You either love the idea of remakes or despise it.  But either way you know you will end up seeing it.  Don't tell me you didn't see it, because it knocked Mel Gibson's Passion of the Christ out of the number one spot at the box office. (Which was a crappy movie anyways.)

So how good is the remake? Well it is an average zombie flick.  It uses Dawn's original concept, billions of zombies + a few survivors + shopping mall.  But it also changes things up a little bit.

One thing that is new in this remake is the fact that the zombies run.  They are like the people in 28 Days Later, although those were not even zombies, but people infected with rage.  These things run though, and I am not very pleased with the results.  If you are dead aren't you going to be stiff and slow?

Aside from the zombies running like crazy, the worst part of this remake is the fact that there is virtually no character development.  The movie basically just starts.  I couldn't believe it.  It was almost an insult to the time Romero put into developing his original script.

There were some good laughs and a few jumps.  Also there was a great Elevator music version of Disturbed's Down with the sickness.  Other than the lack of character development I would say that this is a good remake.

Gore

Not as gory as the original but you still get bloody zombie bites, bullet wounds, a pipe through the head, chainsaw action and more.
