| I rented this movie
because it was recommended to me by a friend. I had never even heard of
it before. So I just went out and rented it. When I started
watching it I noticed one thing as soon as somebody opened their mouth,
this film was British. I've seen a couple of British horror films
like 28 Days Later and Ghost Rig. I liked them both so I thought
this might be a good movie. The movie starts right away, no messing
around.
The group of soldiers that the movie revolves around aren't
particularly loveable, because they are all cocky asses. But that
makes for some good comedic dialogue. Also it could just be the fact
that they are all British and no matter what they say it kind of
sounds sarcastic. The actors that play the soldiers are pretty good
in their rolls. But most of the characters are there simply to die.
So they are not very layered and don't require a brilliant actor to play
them.
The directing in Dog Soldiers is very well done, we get some nice
tricks and very good transition shots. For me it seemed that Neil
Marshall, is not a novice director. But I have never heard of him
before, and haven't done any research so I will leave it at that.
Dog Soldiers has very nice special effects, and in a monster movie
that's very important. The werewolves look amazing, and the gore is
perfect.
Overall, Dog Soldiers is a great monster movie that is sure to please
fans of the genre. I was never really a fan of werewolves, but
having seen this, and
Ginger Snaps
I can now say that I am a fan. |
