I have been dieing to see the Guinea Pig films for a long time now,
and I finally have them all. The first one I have watched is
Flower of Flesh and Blood. The one which Charlie Sheen thought
was real and called the FBI back in the early nineties. So I was
egger as hell to see what all of the fuss was about.
It turns out that the movie is well, not even a movie really. It
is pretty much a fake snuff film that just wants to make you feel
uncomfortable. Which I personally wasn't that shocked by it.
Although it was very gruesome, I was kind of expecting more from it.
Another thing, how stupid is Charlie Sheen? How the hell could he
possibly think that this was a real snuff film. First of all, the
big thing that gives it away is the fact that there is editing. Now
I have never seen a real snuff film, and I don't ever want to, but I would
bet that there isn't too much editing going on. The same thing can
be said about the slow motion and the lighting effects. So Charlie
Sheen, you are and idiot. Say it with me now: Charlie Sheen, you are an
idiot. Now, don't you feel better? I sure do.
So, what can be said about Flower of Flesh and Blood?
Well, overall I liked it, maybe that isn't a good thing though.
It isn't really a movie, so don't expect anything as far as a plot.
The acting is well, I guess you could say good. I say this because
there is barely any dialogue, and when there is it is in Japanese and you
have to read the subtitles, so it isn't really fair to judge it. The
directing is pretty much straight forward, some ok slow motion scenes, and
some pretty cool lighting effects. That is about all that can be
said as far as filmmaking is concerned, because when it is all said and
done lets just face it, this is a movie that was made for one reason, to
satisfy gorehounds. And it does that very well.
The film doesn't really give us any motivation as to why that this guy
is torturing this poor young woman. Brief comments made by the
murder in between each torture session never really seem to go anywhere.
But I have the feeling that the man who is committing these unspeakable
acts does not see them as the disgusting filth that we do. To him it
is beautiful, the flow of the blood brings him an ecstasy that he can not
find anywhere else. He sees the inside of the human body as beauty,
when we see it as filth. To him he was not doing anything wrong. And
this truly shows in one of the final scenes in the movie when he is
sitting on top of his victims dismembered corpse and smoking a cigarette.
So if you are in the mood for something that is going to make your
stomach turn. Or something that is less than an hour long and is
brutal and gory as hell, then check out Flower of Flesh and Blood,
that is, if you can get your hands on a copy. |
