This movie was recommended to me by a buddy of mine (MassacreMan).
So I went out and rented it and here is what I thought. The movie
starts out good, and I found myself getting into the plot right away.
The story is based around the character of Nick, who is throwing a party
at his Uncle's apartment. The reason he is throwing this party is
because he intends to kill each and every one of his guests. He
wants to get away with his crimes and become famous for it. His plan
seems simple enough, but everything has its flaws. My favorite part
about R.S.V.P. is Jason Mews, who is better known as Jay (and Silent Bob)
from New Jersey based director Kevin Smith's films. Jason plays the
same type of role he always seems to play, a stoner. But he does it
so well and is funny as hell. It never gets old. The directing was
good, featuring lots of quick cuts and some off the wall editing, and we
also get a rather enjoyable soundtrack.
Even though the movie had an original plot and good cast, I was left
with the feeling that there was something missing from the mix. I
also got too strong of an American Psycho
vibe from the film, but I can't determine whether that is a good thing or a
bad thing. Either way R.S.V.P. is a great effort and worth at least
a rental. |
