Lately I have had a thing for renting low budget straight to video horror
movies. And S.I.C.K., which stands for Serial Insane Clown Killer,
is no exception. We get all of the usual low budget film qualities.
When I started watching the movie I knew that I was in for a campy,
B-Rated slasher flick. It was setting itself up for its own
downfall, a weekend in the woods, a strange hitch hiker, and lots of
booze. Yup, this was just your typical everyday b movie
slasher film.
But then I realized something, the main characters in this movie were
not teenagers. What's this? Is somebody trying something new?
I can't believe it, and some of the characters are actually married!
Well that's a change for once. I am actually watching a slasher
movie where, the main characters aren't teenagers who are being killed for
having sex in the woods!
So, maybe this is actually going to be worth my time. And
personally I think it was, I actually liked it. Even though the
characters were annoying, and the soundtrack was decent at best. I
still found myself finding pleasure in the mayhem happening on the screen.
I especially loved the black comedy in S.I.C.K., I laughed my ass off when
the clown was chopping people's heads off and then dancing around it
singing "ring around the rosie", it was classic.
Although I enjoyed it, there are still a couple of complaints I have
about this one. I hated the way that the main characters were
constantly bitching at each other, they were worse than a bunch of kids.
I also didn't particularly like the way that everybody seemed to be
thinking out loud, it was firkin annoying. So overall, we get a decent
B-Rated slasher flick. It is funny as hell, but can be annoying at
times. I would say that it is worth a rental. |
