Review

his movie really feels more like a sequel than a "re-make".  It uses the hitchhiker aspect of the original and that is about it.  Not to say that it was a bad movie, but one scene doesn't make it a remake.

TCM 2003 Doesn't waste time, it starts out with a bang and keeps your eyes glued to the screen for the rest of the film.  When I saw this movie in the theaters, I think I only blinked once, which is strange because I have viscous ADHD.  The opening opens like a snuff film, and I really dug that.

The acting was superb, Erica Leerhsen (Pepper) has to be one the greatest screamer on this side of Jamie Lee Curtis.  Her scream will make your blood boil, and that seems to be rare nowadays.  Although I would have to say that the best performance goes to R. Lee Ermey (Sheriff Hoyt) who was all balls to the wall.  I have never loved a charter like I love his.  From his one-liners to his overall body language he defiantly brings this movie to a much needed high.  Jessica Biel (Erin) was a lot more than I had expected, she nailed all of the emotions and is sexy as hell in a tight white t-shirt.

I was very pleased with the "remake" but I still feels like a sequel to me.  It is a great movie and you should see it!

Gore

Pretty gory.  We get a sawed off leg, blown of head, decaying bodies, a stabbing and more.
