How To Make an English Wheel

A while ago I came across a homemade English Wheel on the Internet and I decided I Just had to make one. I couldn't remember exactly how it was made and could not find it again, so I just improvised and this is what I came up with.

Remember that these plans can and should be modified to be built using the material that you have access to.

This project is fairly simple, but finding the parts may be a little more difficult. Remember these plans do not need to be followed exactly to make it work, build it so that it fits your application. The main frame is made from 1 x 2-1/2" square tubing. The most difficult part of this design is the shaft that when turned it goes up and down and does not spin. This shaft is simply a GM collapsible steering shaft that can be picked up at any junk yard for less than $10.
