Capital Waterways Challenge

This is information from 2006. 

The race starts in Bladensburg, MD and goes down the Anacostia to Haines Point, then up the Potomac to Georgetown.  At Thompson’s Boat Center the race divides - those that want a shorter distance head straight to the Washington Canoe Club, the rest up Rock Creek and portage into the C&O canal.  After a run up the canal, they portage back into the river, around T. Roosevelt Island and back to WCC.

Classes: Single & Tandem Canoe, Single & Tandem Kayak, Men's, Women's, & Mixed in all classes. All makes of canoes & kayaks welcome, including outrigger canoes
and surfskis.

Race will be run on a challenging course including deep & shallow water with 2 portages (no portage for 12 miler).
Start time: 10:00 am
Start location: Bladensburg Waterfront Park, 4601 Annapolis Road, Bladensburg MD 20710
Finish at Washington Canoe Club, 3700 K St NW, Washington DC. 20007
Boat shuttle for both races available from WCC leaving at 8:30am.
